GDM Gaining Momentum across Europe

GDM soybean genetics continue to grow in the European market, reaching 8% market share among the varieties marketed through the DONMARIO brand and exclusive licenses. With 8 materials in the registration process, the intention is to reach 20% in the next 4 years.

GDM arrived in Europe with a focus on the commercialization of soybean varieties and the results are more than positive. Both with the sale of DONMARIO seeds and through exclusive licensing, the company has reached 8% of the market share in the European community and, in the intermediate term, aims to grow to 20%.

‘We have 2 commercial materials and we are about to launch 2 new ones, under the DONMARIO brand. In addition, we have 7 materials under exclusive license and 8 materials in the registration process, all of them non-GMO. This positions us in the expected position, with growth prospects in the coming years,’ said Thiago Enrique Schwonka, Business Development Manager.

Based in Budapest, GDM operates in 10 European countries: France, Italy, Czech Republic, Germany, Poland, Croatia, Hungary, Romania, Serbia and Ukraine. In line with Schwonka’s analysis, Joner Dalcin, Commercial Coordinator of DONMARIO Seeds, highlights: ‘We are bringing products to Europe that combine high competitiveness and superior yields. With more than 40 years of experience in one of the best soybean breeding programs in the world, we offer licensed seed producers excellent business opportunities and growers guaranteed profitability’.  Schwonka also discussed GDM’s foray into other crops on the European continent, despite the current focus on soybeans. ‘In Toulouse, France, we are developing the sunflower nursery and, if we continue to move forward in this way, we aim to go to market in 2027,’ he concluded.
